Footwear and technique will vary depending on whether you’re training to lift for strength and power versus someone who’s training for endurance and cardio.
For our heavy lifters and power athletes in the gym the most common exercises we’ve implemented corrections for at Melbourne Sports Podiatry are the back squat, snatch, walking lunge and explosive bounds or hops. Dr. Steven Singh worked as a Personal trainer and trained as a 100m sprinter for several years whilst also working as a podiatrist, and is therefore highly experienced when it comes to correlating the bodies joint limitations to the technique required to complete a successful lift or movement.
For our group training and HIIT based gym goers the ideal footwear is vital so you can absorb shock and continue to train without excessive pressure building up in the knees and hips. Having your foot, knee and hip alignment screened is vital to help you achieve your goals and reduce your risk of breaking down commonly 4 - 6 weeks in during challenges or long standing training regimens.

All assessments are 30 minutes and 45 minutes for those patients who have had chronic or resilient problems that have been untreatable so to speak over a long time.
